Red Wing's best-known boots are the Heritage line: the Classic Moc, Iron Ranger, Blacksmith, Roughneck and Logger. They come from work boot patterns and are still built with Goodyear welts, full-grain leather and resoleable soles. Before you buy, know what they are not. None of the Red Wing listings in this set mention a safety toe, an EH rating or waterproofing, so they do not replace an ASTM F2413 boot on a site that requires one. Red Wing's safety-toe work lines such as King Toe and SuperSole are not in the listings we could compare, so this guide covers the Heritage boots only. The real choices are the last, which controls fit, and the outsole: a Traction Tred wedge for flat ground or a Vibram lug for rough ground. We compare last, outsole, leather and construction and rank by how well each serves daily work.
