About Toecap & Lace
Toecap & Lace is a small independent reference site about work boots. It is organized by trade and by topic, from the ratings on the label to fit and repair, and each page tries to answer one question fully, with the direct answer first.
What you will find here
- Topic pages on safety toes and ratings, boot styles and builds, fit and sizing, and care and repair.
- How-to notes and fixes for common boot problems, from sore toes to worn soles.
- Tools that decode the ASTM F2413 label and convert boot sizes and widths.
- Narrow boot guides, each about one kind of boot.
Where the numbers come from
Rating definitions follow the published ASTM F2413 and F2892 standards. Fit, construction and care advice is standard practice for work boots, as found in maker documentation and long-established references. Where sources disagree we give a range instead of a single figure, and we say so. Your site safety rules and the maker's own specs always win where they differ from a general rule.
How gear is chosen
We do not run a test bench and we do not claim hands-on testing. Gear guides compare products by what their Amazon listings state. How we pick gear explains the method and its limits.
How the site is paid for
Links to Amazon are affiliate links. If you buy through one, the site may earn a commission at no extra cost to you. That is the only income. Nobody pays to be included, and a product is never listed because of its commission. See the affiliate disclosure.
